Domestic Violence

If there's one issue that does not discriminate against anyone it is domestic violence. Domestic violence can happen to all people of any age, race, ethnicity, religion, or gender. It does not have a preference towards those who are wealthy, middle-class or poor. Domestic violence does not care if you live in a mansion, economically deprived area or suburban white-picket fence neighborhood. The abusers and their victims are not limited to a specific status. Instead, they come from a variety of diverse backgrounds within any cultural, economic or social standing. It does not matter if they are college educated, high school dropouts, community leaders or criminal offenders. Domestic violence does not, and will never, discriminate.

The majority of current victims within abusive situations would like nothing more than to leave. However, most do not have the finances, awareness of available resources or the strength and courage to just walk away. They may blame themselves into thinking, or have been told they have done something to initiate the abuse, have religious beliefs that prohibit them from leaving or may feel guilty about breaking up the family. Others are so threatened by their abuser they fear for their life or for the safety of their children should they ever try to leave.

Current victims, who may think there is no way out or believe they may have exhausted all efforts in trying to do so, are encouraged to think again. The new resource, "Domestic Violence: Survivors of Abuse Share Their Stories of How They Got Out and Stayed Out - Forever," is an added tool for victims to utilize and truly grasp that they too can get out and stay out - forever. It has been designed to give victims a road map to realize they do not have to stay within a harmful environment by offering situations and techniques that aid in the process of leaving an abusive relationship. The inclusion of true accounts from survivors of abuse are empowering and create the understanding that victims do not have to stand alone, remain fearful or live in isolation any longer.
